I think we choose to believe in words, because words are easy. Words can make us feel so much, a multitude of emotions. Words over actions, because most of us don’t want to experience that fall. That drop in your heart when things don’t go the way we wish they would. Because people over-promise, and under-deliver.
See? Words are so much easier because we want to feel happy. Even if the joy is temporary; short-lived. Tell a girl you love her, and she would be content. At least, she would have been, once upon a time. Even if in the near future, you broke her heart into a million little pieces. But to show a girl you love her, to convince her that you truly want all of her, what a task that would be.
Some girls are easier to fool than others. They close themselves off from reality and choose to believe in the words they hear, because they want to be content. And contentment is what they get. Then there are those who have hardened themselves to the idea of love, so much so that they have a hard time convincing themselves they’ll ever be happy again. Who will fix them then? How do you make the choice between anchoring yourself to reality, and letting your head float amongst the clouds? How do you decide if temporary happiness is worth the pain, or if it is better than not feeling any happiness at all?
